We’re used to seeing Jessie J in gothic black, deep purples and blood reds but the singer has changed up her look for a photoshoot for the glossy pages of American Glamour Magazine. Jessie rocks a mixture of designer labels and high street brands with bright bold spring colours for the shoot and models some of the newest beauty trends this season.
We wouldn’t be surprised if you didn’t recognise the Do It Like a Dude singer. The girl who’s hairstyles only ever range from excruciatingly tight top knots to dip dyed long tresses has had a cute sleek ponytail clipped on and she seems to be loving it. The Willow bra ties in nicely with both the colour-blocking trend and the bralet trend which we will be seeing a lot of in the next few months. It was featured heavily on the Spring/Summer catwalks (Alexandra Burke rocked a gold one for her latest music video Let It Go, but didn’t pull it off quite as well).
With Jessie always keeping to her signature long tresses look we had never seen that tattoo before, had you? Well, well, well. She shows off her sexuality in this shot with a classy old Hollywood up do. The teal eyeshadow and green nails bring this picture right into Spring, which is further enhanced by the colourful background and Jessie’s playful pose, gone is the harshness of the first styled shots we ever saw of Jessie J with a cropped bob and studded lip cover.
Just woken up have we? In the shot above Jessie exudes youthfulness and playfulness and in this aqua Jil Sander dress, she almost looks like a spring bud just about to bloom. As this isn’t a beauty shot the makeup has been kept simple to draw all attention to the dress, but Jessie keeps her statement red lip which we rarely see her without. We really think this cute curly bob suits Jessie’s face and we are glad someone has styled her into a softer look. Let’s hope she brings some of that back to the UK.
We would think that someone as successful as Jessie J would have a team of stylists and hairdresser’s on call 24/7 but when speaking to Glamour she disclosed that that isn’t always the case, and we finally found out the reason behind all those many-coloured wigs:
Glamour bravely asked: ”You wear a lot of wigs, right?” And Jessie candidly replied:
It’s so tough to explain to people. When you have half an hour to be ready at four o’clock in the morning, you don’t have time to get up and glue in extensions or blow-dry your hair. A hairdresser who did my hair said, “You, my darling, have something that we call ‘successful’ hair,” which is basically battered hair that’s split and falling out in the back because you’ve had to blow-dry it every day. I don’t want my hair falling out, so I wear wigs!
Wigs or no wigs, we think she should stick to this softer image, even if it’s only for Spring!
